SV Schlebusch: Change of coach after defeat – Hilmer takes stock!

On Sunday afternoon, SV Schlebusch experienced a disappointing season finale in Oberpleis. The team lost 0-2, although coach Markus Hilmer looked back optimistically on the second half of the season. “We were a little out of breath, but who can blame the boys?” said Hilmer after the game, in which the goals were scored by Shogo Aikawa in the 35th minute and Jan Lucas Mowitz in the 48th minute. Despite the defeat, the team's positive development this season remains undisputed.

Hilmer started the season with a clear goal: to break the 50-point mark. This would also have been possible with a win against TuS Oberpleis, but the team was not lucky. SV Schlebusch was recently able to record five wins in a row and was very popular as “champion of the second half of the season” as it collected the most points of all teams in the second half of the season. The coach highlighted the committed performance of his players, whom he described as a “super squad”, and made it clear that Sebastian Bamberg and Murat Aydin's conversion of chances in this game did not meet expectations. “We simply have to become more effective,” said Hilmer.

Change of coach with new challenges

With the end of the season, Markus Hilmer's era as coach of SV Schlebusch also ended. He will hand over the post to Sven Bellinghausen after already holding talks with potential new clubs. Hilmer, who is planning a final trip to Holland for the team at the end of the season, is aware that coaching changes are often accompanied by uncertainty. In amateur football, however, such changes are often viewed as a last resort in the event of sporting failures, as a look at the current situation in the amateur sector shows. Reported on this Mercury that coach changes are rare, but can always have an impact on the team's sporting performance.

While some well-known coaches in the professional sector such as Mark van Bommel and Jesse Marsch were fired in the first half of the season, in the amateur sector the coaches often stay in office longer. This is often due to financial bottlenecks and the difficulty of finding adequate successors. However, as the example of FC Pipinsried shows, a structured change can be quite successful.

The plan is for preparation for the new 2025/26 season to begin in mid-July. As part of these preparations, SV Schlebusch can look back on a promising second half of the season, in which the team demonstrated that they can achieve a lot with the right focus and commitment on the pitch. The next phase, reported RP Online, will be crucial to continue the positive development and possibly exceed the 50-point mark in the coming season.
