A spectacular final fireworks display is planned for the grand finale on Monday evening at 10 p.m., which will be celebrated with musical accompaniment from 75 years of Sandkerwa.

Arrival and parking options

Getting to Sandkerwa is uncomplicated, thanks to the Sandkerwa Express, which is organized by the Bamberg district. This service, which is implemented in collaboration with regional bus companies, is particularly intended for the citizens of the district. It enables a comfortable journey to Bamberg city center on Kerwa Friday and Saturday, so you can celebrate in a relaxed manner without having to worry about parking. More detailed information about travel times and stops can be found in the information center of the Bamberg district office or directly from the transport companies involved, as the website sandkerwa.de provides information.

For those who prefer to travel by car, there are numerous parking options available. It is recommended to use the Park & Ride (P+R) at Heinrichsdamm as well as the underground car parks at Untere Königstraße 30 and at Weberei 5 on the ERBA island. Therefore, there is no need to worry about having to spend a long time looking for a parking space, which can often be a challenge during the holidays.

A piece of history

The Sandkerwa has a long tradition: The name comes from Sandstrasse, where the consecration of St. Elisabeth Church was celebrated. The sand area is considered to be the oldest settlement area in Bamberg, and the first Sandkerwa took place on September 15, 1951. This story gives the festival a special charm and makes it an indispensable part of Bamberg's cultural life.

Be there when the Bamberg Sandkerwa once again provides happy faces and a colorful program on the last weekend in August. A festival for young and old that focuses on tradition and community - and has something to offer for everyone!
