Federal police border controls: five arrests at the weekend!

Last weekend, more precisely on June 14th and 15th, the federal police in Bavaria really carried out extensive border controls. A total of five wanted people were arrested, including a Georgian and a Slovakian, who are now behind bars. This reported News Today.

A special case occurred on Sunday in Rosenheim. A Slovak citizen who was traveling on a long-distance train without a train ticket or identification documents was checked there. The man was wanted by the Worms district court for theft and now has to answer in the Traunstein correctional facility.

High fines and judicial debts

A Georgian who was picked up at the Mittenwald border crossing on Saturday had several arrest warrants for theft from cities such as Magdeburg, Berlin, Hanover and Leipzig. Since he was unable to pay the required fine of 3,000 euros, he is expected to receive a substitute prison sentence of at least six months. This practice is also evident in other arrests. A 31-year-old German was caught on the Inntal motorway near Kiefersfelden. His father stepped in to pay the outstanding fine of 3,000 euros, meaning the young man retained his freedom.

A 26-year-old German had to pay almost 700 euros for violating the compulsory insurance law. A 29-year-old Bulgarian was also able to fork out 111 euros for fraudulent benefits, which paved the way for him to continue his journey. To lighten the situation a little: Not everyone is on the run from the law. There were also bright spots, as three of those arrested were able to pay off their legal debts and were then allowed to continue their journey.

On the trail of dangerous criminals

Another remarkable event occurred in Waidhaus in May 2025. A thief, a 30-year-old Romanian who had been wanted for three years, was caught during a border check on the A6. There was an open arrest warrant issued by the Regensburg public prosecutor's office against this man. In October 2022, the district court sentenced him to a fine of 2,000 euros for particularly serious theft, which he did not pay - the result was an arrest warrant.

The Romanian now has to serve a substitute prison sentence of almost three months and was taken to the Weiden correctional facility Press portal reported. These arrests are a clear indication of the Federal Police's ongoing efforts to combat crime at the borders and maintain law and order.

Overall, it shows that the federal police's border controls not only advance the search for wanted people, but can also have an impact on many people's travel plans. The measures taken here are clear evidence that the security forces are keeping a watchful eye on the streets of Bavaria in midsummer.
