Bad Kissingen: Love is Blind” brings wedding dreams to life!
Sparks of love are flying in Bad Kissingen, as the second season of “Love is Blind: Germany” has bathed the historic city in a romantic light. Couples said “yes” to each other in the magnificent Regentenbau and thus tied the knot. Mayor Dr. Dirk Vogel welcomed the choice of Bad Kissingen as a filming location with great enthusiasm. “This shows that our city is very popular as a wedding destination,” says Vogel. The wedding episode can be seen exclusively on Netflix from January 15th, putting Bad Kissingen back in the spotlight. Visitors can look forward to a city that is ideal for weddings with its various wedding venues, such as the Arkadenbau and the Luitpoldbad.
The wedding ceremonies, which were conducted by the registrar Marina Wiesend, were anything but ordinary. “These ceremonies were intense and emotional,” says Wiesend, describing the special moments she experienced with the couples. The first season already offered a good bit of drama - and the second season promises no less excitement as the headless singles get to know each other in the separate "pods". That's where the unusual happens: They have to form emotional bonds before they actually see each other.
Couples that challenge hearts and minds
A particularly controversial couple is Hanni and Daniel, who, despite the heated spot on social media, have not made a clear decision at the altar. However, they don't seem to be able to completely let go of each other. Hanni has frequently posted about Daniel and shared certain clips that show they continue to have a connection. In one of her videos, she laughs with friends in a bar and mentions Daniel fondly. He is even shown making a peace sign and wiggling happily. Despite criticism from fans questioning her sincerity, Hanni announces that their love story is not over yet.
The wedding joy doesn't just affect the participants of “Love is Blind”. In Germany as a whole, getting married is also very important. According to Statista, marriage remains a common goal, although the importance of religion is declining. Most marriages in Germany now take place in a civil ceremony, and traditional customs such as the throwing of the bridal bouquet or the wedding waltz are still observed.
Marriage through the ages
The average marriage age is currently 35.1 years for men and 32.6 years for women. In 2023, around 361,000 couples in Germany said yes - a sign that, despite declining numbers in recent decades, getting married remains contemporary. A third of couples see a wedding budget of 2,001 to 5,000 euros as appropriate, while most weddings are celebrated on a small scale with around 16 to 50 guests. Although disagreements often arise during planning - be it over the guest list or the budget - the desire for a stress-free celebration remains the top priority for many wedding parties.
Bruno Heynen, the head of the events department at the Bad Kissinger town hall, is optimistic about the future: Now that the second season of “Love is Blind: Germany” has now seen the light of day, increased inquiries for weddings in the city are expected. “The interest in weddings is noticeable and will probably be further fueled by the series,” says Heynen. Bad Kissingen not only offers couples entering into marriage, but also the romantic backdrop for unforgettable wedding moments.
