New Bachelor in Social Work: TH Aschaffenburg cooperates with BRK!
The Aschaffenburg University of Technology is bringing a breath of fresh air into the educational landscape: the new bachelor’s degree program “Social Work” will start in the winter semester of 2025/26. This step was sealed by a cooperation agreement with the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) - Aschaffenburg district association, which was signed on June 24, 2025. This gives future students exciting opportunities to gain sufficient practical experience.
“What an offer!” you could say. Because students have the choice to choose a “study course with in-depth practice”. This means that they can carry out practical activities within the BRK facilities during the lecture-free period. Target groups include children, young people and seniors, and support is also offered in the hospice area. In this way, theory comes to life and direct contact with practice promotes learning immensely. The answer to the question of how best to enter the social professions couldn't be easier!
Gain practical experience
After being admitted to the new course of study, interested students can apply directly to the BRK for an employment contract. This opens up a valuable opportunity for anyone who has a good knack for social work and would like to work in a committed environment. Dennis Kempel, managing director of the BRK district association in Aschaffenburg, emphasizes the importance of this type of training for the region: “Especially in times when social support is more in demand than ever, we rely on well-trained specialists.”
The big players in this process are Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Beck-Meuth, President of the TH Aschaffenburg, Dr. Alexander Legler, district administrator and chairman of the BRK, and Prof. Dr. Lena Agel, who serves as the founding dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Affairs. Together they are laying the foundation for a promising future in social work.
Keep an eye on application deadlines
However, for everyone who is interested in the course, it pays to be quick! The application deadline ends on July 15, 2025. So if you want to benefit from the new opportunities, you shouldn't put off your preparations. This is particularly true as the need for skilled workers in social work is high.
Overall, the new bachelor's degree program in “Social Work” at the TH Aschaffenburg not only promises a sound academic education, but also valuable practical experience in one of the central professional fields of our society. This is good business for future students and for the entire region.
