Aschaffenburg Folk Festival 2025: Eleven days full of fun and attractions!

What is probably the largest folk festival on the Bavarian Lower Main starts today in the picturesque town of Aschaffenburg. Under the high, friendly face of Mayor Jürgen Herzing, the festival opens with a ceremonial beer tapping, followed by an impressive fireworks display. The mood couldn't be better, because the anticipation of the expected up to 500,000 visitors is literally palpable. The folk festival, which opens its doors today, runs until June 30, 2025 and promises eleven days of fun and conviviality.

The Aschaffenburg Folk Festival, now in its 96th edition, takes place around Johannisburg Castle and on the banks of the Main. The event area extends over an impressive 3.5 hectares. Over the next few days, visitors can look forward to numerous attractions, including a breathtaking Ferris wheel, exciting can throwing and the unmissable marquee fun. Anyone looking for a thrill will get their money's worth with rides such as the 80 meter high chain carousel, a fast roller coaster and the break dancer. This year, visitors can also look forward to an additional day of celebration, as the folk festival has been extended by one day to include the Corpus Christi holiday.

Opening times and offers

The opening hours couldn't be better: from Monday to Thursday the festival is open from 2 p.m. to midnight, while on Friday and Saturday it continues until 1 a.m. On Sundays and public holidays the festival opens at 11 a.m. Things get particularly exciting in the festival tent, because beer from the well-known Schwind brewery is served here. The beer costs 11.70 euros - a fair deal in this sociable group.

With 12 to 15 large rides and a variety of other attractions, the Aschaffenburg folk festival has also moved up to 45th place in Germany in the Kirmesecke folk festival ranking. The social days are a popular meeting place for young and old, attracting many residents and tourists every year. With such a variety of options, it is no wonder that the festival is very popular and is on the list of the largest folk festivals in the country, as Statista statistics show.

A folk festival for the whole family

In addition to the attractions, there are also many opportunities for relaxing activities that can be enjoyed with family or friends. Whether feasting on Bavarian specialties or trying out classic folk festivals – the variety of offerings speaks for itself. Visitors can look forward to countless stands that offer both culinary delicacies and typical folk festival items.

The Aschaffenburg Folk Festival is therefore not only a celebration of regional culture, but also an opportunity to meet friends and family and experience some unforgettable moments. People are already looking forward to the coming days full of fun and tradition that characterize the Bavarian summer. So if you have time and want to look forward to a few relaxing days in the festival tent or at the flea market, this is the right place for you!
