Domestic violence: Amberg starts emergency call for affected women!

In the Amberg region and the Amberg-Sulzbach district there is good news for everyone who needs support in difficult life situations. The Social Service for Catholic Women (SkF) Amberg has set up an emergency hotline for victims of domestic violence. This contact point can be reached around the clock on the emergency number (0 96 21) 2 22 00. Women can not only receive initial advice here, but can also seek companionship and shelter in the women's shelter if the situation requires it.

This initiative is particularly important because last year there was an increase in victims of domestic violence in Germany, as statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office show. Often the attackers are partners or ex-partners, and women are particularly affected by these attacks. To further support this cause, the Soroptimist Club Amberg implemented a creative idea: bookmarks with the emergency number were developed and sponsored to make the necessary help better known. The initiative comes from club member Susan Batten-Seidl, who also secured the financing.

Help in the form of bookmarks

The bookmarks were designed by graduate designer Marion Walter, who is also a member of the SI Club Amberg-Sulzbach. The front shows an attractive female silhouette and quotes, while on the back there is a discreet reference to the SKF and the emergency number. A print run of 7,500 of these bookmarks will now be distributed in libraries and bookstores in Amberg and the district so that they will quickly become known.

But what is behind this remarkable initiative? The bookmarks are not just a pretty reading accessory, but an important step in raising public awareness of the issue of domestic violence. The Soroptimist Club hopes that through this campaign many women will accept the help they need and thus take a stand against violence in their own four walls.

This type of support is important not only for those affected, but also for the community. If we all stand together and help, we can make a difference together. The moral of this campaign also reminds us of this: it is often the small step that can bring about big changes.

For further information and support, do not hesitate to use the emergency number mentioned. Together we can take a stand against domestic violence.
