A 28-year-old from Sulzbach-Rosenberg recently wanted to leave the church exclusively online, but instead found a fraudulent website that could cost him dearly. How Mittelbayerische.de reported that the website promised to complete the exit within just two minutes, but at the same time charged a fee of 34.95 euros. The young man obediently filled out the form and waited eagerly for his confirmation.
After the promised confirmation did not arrive within the advertised 24 hours, he received an invoice instead. Such sites often promise a quick and easy solution to leaving the church, when in reality they only generate a letter that does not submit the application to the relevant authorities. A comparable amount of 29.90 euros is charged via the website “kirchenaustritt-online-bewerbungen.info”, without ultimately giving you an official claim, explains the consumer advice center.
The 28-year-old looked behind the scenes in time and withdrew from the contract, meaning he did not suffer any financial damage. Nevertheless, the police reported that he received another payment request and finally filed a report. Investigations into the fraud case have been initiated to protect other affected people.
