On Thursday afternoon, a significant traffic accident occurred on Vilstalstrasse between Amberg and Kümmersbruck in the Amberg-Sulzbach district. A public bus crashed into a car, causing a massive traffic jam and leaving six people slightly injured, including two children aged 6 and 7, it was reported BR.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. when a 41-year-old driver was driving from Amberg towards Kümmersbruck. She wanted to turn left on Heiner-Fleischmann-Straße, but had to stop due to traffic. The 49-year-old driver of the bus recognized the situation too late and collided with the rear of the stationary car. The impact threw the car into oncoming traffic, where it collided with another oncoming vehicle driven by a 29-year-old from Amberg.
Injuries and property damage
A total of 13 people were affected in this incident. Six of them suffered minor injuries and had to be taken to nearby hospitals. The injured also included the occupants of the second vehicle and a passenger on the bus. Both cars were no longer drivable after the collision and had to be towed away. The material damage caused amounts to around 40,000 euros Northern Bavaria reported.
Vilstalstrasse had to be closed for around two hours while the accident was recorded and the injured received medical care. The closure led to long traffic jams in the west of Amberg, which put a lot of strain on both residents and road users.
