Pleystein mourns the loss of Ludwig Putzer: a life for community and faith

Altötting, Deutschland - The municipality of Pleystein mourns the loss of Ludwig Putzer, who died on May 26, 2025 at the age of 72. His life path was characterized by commitment and warmth, both at work and in the community. Upper Palatinate Echo reports that the cleaner, born in Miesbrunn, who saw the light of day in 1952, always maintained a close connection to his homeland. He grew up with six siblings on an agricultural business before he started his apprenticeship as a toolmaker in the cable plant in Floß in 1966 and worked there for 44 years.

his wife Helene, whom he met in 1970 in the Pleysteiner inn in 1970, will miss him in particular because they celebrated their golden wedding in two weeks. The funeral service, in which Father Thomas Mühlberger gave a touching speech, was an emotional and dignified farewell. He quoted a poem about pilgrims, which is not surprising, because the pilgrimage to Altötting was a great concern.

a life full of commitment

Ludwig Putzer was not only a loving family of two children, Marcus and Sandra, but also an active member of his community. Mayor Rainer Rewitzer honored him as a person with a heart who shaped the city and whose commitment in the CSU parliamentary group was lovingly honored with "Uncle Ludwig". As a lay judge at the Weiden district court, he contributed to shaping public life in Pleystein.

Nature around the Kreuzberg was a matter close to his heart. His role in the Pleystein volunteer fire brigade, which he entered in 1968, was also of great importance. The fire brigade and the footwall drivers, who benefited from his commitment for many years, expressed their grief in the obituaries that the former mayor Johann Walbrunn spoke.

pilgrimages as an important part of life

his passion for the pilgrimages to Altötting was reflected in his life. Altötting, with over 1,200 years of tradition as a place of pilgrimage and more than 500 years as the most important place of Maria in German -speaking countries, was a place of faith and reflection for him. altotting.de describes that pilgrimages have been enjoying great popularity since the early Middle Ages and that believers often travel to groups to bring their requests and thank you before God.

Unfortunately, Ludwig Putzer had to step down over the years due to health problems and was no longer able to handle his beloved route to Altötting in full on foot. Nevertheless, he remained very connected to the pilgrimage and his traces will always stay in the community in which he lived.

In this difficult time, the thoughts and prayers of the community go to the family of Ludwig Putzer. He will be remembered as a person who always had a good hand for others and enriched the community with his commitment.
