Jubilee concert by the Obergriesbach Music Association: Brass music at its finest!
Aichach-Friedberg, Deutschland - The anticipation in Obergriesbach is enormous: the Musikverein Obergriesbach (MVO) celebrates a special anniversary year and has July 12th at 7 p.m. a big concert in the community house. In cooperation with the Altomünster Music Association, the aim is to present the brass music both entertaining and demanding.
The program, which was put together by conductor Sepp Rast, sounds particularly exciting. A varied repertoire awaits the guests, which includes Bavarian and Bohemian sounds as well as impressive brilliant pieces. In addition, the Cantabella women's choir will be part of the party under the direction of Sandra Tucker.
musical history and commitment
The roots of the MVO go back deeply: the club was originally launched by Alto Pettinger, a school teacher in Obergriesbach, and was able to count on groundbreaking support for personalities such as Hans Rast and Konrad Schels. The first rehearsals took place in the old sports home on Sundays, while lessons for the young musicians were held on Saturdays. The first big concert at Christmas was celebrated in the founding year.
Over the years, the Musikverein developed into a true musical ambassador of the community. From the 1980s under the direction of Ottmar Sauer and Sepp Rast, the MVO experienced an upswing and reached impressive size with up to 90 musicians at various events. The brass music gained in reputation during this time, which is also thanks to the new composer who give the genre a fresh air.
The numerous appearances outside the community, such as in Aichach and Ecknach, testify to the popularity of the MVO. Concert tours to Italy and legendary Rose Monday balls are also part of the club's history, which is peppered with many stories and anecdotes. A particularly humorous story tells of a tuba player and drummer who once fell off the stage.
invitation to the anniversary festival
The doors of the community house open one hour before the concert begins: admission is from 6 p.m. Interested parties should not stiffen seats, however, because a reservation is not possible. Admission is free of charge, but it is possible to support club life by donating. The physical well -being of the guests is also taken care of during the evening.
A look beyond the borders of the success of the MVO: also the Musikverein Hoßkirch e.V. celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021. Founded in 1921, the club not only committed itself to brass music, but also the community and framed numerous events. Like many other music clubs, the MVO is also a place where community and make music are hand in hand.
A moving history of brass music can also be found in the chronicle of the Federal German Blasmusik Associations , which looks back on a long tradition. Since it was founded in 1950, a lot has developed to promote and bring brass music in Germany.
With all these events and the living history, guests of the MVO concert can be safe: something special is in progress here in Obergriesbach. And celebrating the festival is not only a reason to celebrate, but also a sign of cohesion in the community.
