Garden care training starts: knowledge for green thumbs!
Things are going green again in the Wittelsbacher Land! The educational series for garden care training will start at the end of January 2026, organized by the district advisory service for horticulture and land conservation in collaboration with the district association for horticulture and land conservation Aichach-Friedberg. This initiative aims to bring gardening knowledge and ecological connections closer to interested citizens.
The series of events continues with an exciting program. On January 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Inghauser Alm in Hollenbach, participants will learn everything they need to know about plant nutrition and the basics of garden design. A special highlight is the excursion to the Museum of Garden Culture in Illertissen, which will take place on April 25, 2026. Here participants can enjoy a day-long insight into garden culture.
The training in detail
Training to become a garden care worker takes place in three clearly structured stages. First there are the basic courses at the district level, which are then supplemented by advanced courses at the district level. The conclusion is a further training course at the state level, which ends with an examination. This test takes place once a year, and those who pass it can look forward to a certificate and a garden caretaker pin - a clear sign of professional competence.
Through this training, garden carers are trained in all important gardening topics, which significantly increases the professional competence in the clubs. Trained gardeners are often the first point of contact for members with questions about recreational gardening and help pass on gardening knowledge in the community. This not only supports the clubs, but also promotes interest in environmental care and sustainable gardening.
