Kempten helps: 186 Christmas packages for families in need!

This contemplative time of year shows how much charity and commitment there is in our community. This is particularly clear at the State Vocational School I in Kempten. Here, students have been supporting the Johanniter Christmas Trucker campaign for three decades. This year too, a total of 186 packages were handed over, with some classes packing up to eight packages. These lovingly put together donations make a big difference for people in need, be it children, families or seniors.

The Christmas season is a time of giving, and preparations are already in full swing. From December 26th, the packages will be transported in convoys by more than a hundred volunteers to Southeast Europe and Ukraine. There the packages arrive directly to the people who need them most. The]} Johanniter have been officially involved in this campaign for over 30 years, which is intended to give joy and hope, especially in difficult times. The aid packages are delivered not only abroad, but also to needy families in the Allgäu, which is an additional matter close to the organizers' hearts.

Packing with passion

But the fundraising effort requires more than just generosity. Many students and teaching staff packed the packages together. These were filled with non-perishable food and small surprises for children, which brought great joy to the recipients. The packing list included essential items such as flour, sugar, cookies, oil, pasta as well as hygiene items such as soaps and toothbrushes. Each child brought something from home to support the campaign and raise awareness of the needs of others. In this way, everyone makes their contribution and shows that together we can achieve a lot.

The transport to the recipients is carried out by shipping companies and volunteer drivers who deliver the packages directly on site. Partner organizations take responsibility for precise distribution so that families, daycare centers, retirement homes and soup kitchens receive the urgently needed support. In this way, the Johanniters and their numerous supporters show that even in difficult times, when wars and rising prices cause many people to suffer, the heart can beat bigger.
