Wunsiedel invests 9 million euros in a new daycare center!
In Wunsiedel, there is a lot of investment in the future of childcare. The city has presented the plan to build a new modern daycare center on Hornschuchstrasse. The aim of this initiative is to fulfill the legal right to all-day care for primary school children, which will apply from 2026, which means a lot of relief for many families. The new building will cost approx248 seatscome up, including:
- 4 Krippengruppen mit 48 Plätzen
- 3 Kindergartengruppen mit 75 Plätzen
- 5 Hortgruppen mit 125 Plätzen
Again Wiesentbote reports, requirements planning shows that there is a need for additional space, especially in the crèche and after-school care center. Many existing facilities, such as the Zwergerlbande, the Maxi-Kita and the Sternenzelt, no longer meet the current standards and are to be integrated into the new building. This makes more efficient personnel planning possible and saves costs at the same time.
Financial support and location selection
Despite the desired budget consolidation, the city is implementing this ambitious project thanks to a partnership with the investor Ernst Aumer and Aumer VermietungsGmbH. The support from the Free State of Bavaria amounted to approx9 million eurosunderlines the importance of this investment. The location, the site of the former agricultural school, was chosen primarily because of its proximity to the elementary school. This means the after-school children can get to their school safely and without crossing the street.
The children also benefit from shared use of the Jean Paul School, including the playground and sports fields. With a long-term rental agreement, the Diakonieverein Wunsiedel will remain the operator of the new facility. The new building will provide spacious rooms including two kitchens, dining rooms, therapy and group rooms. An underground car park for staff parking and a separate entrance for parents will significantly ease the traffic situation around the daycare centers.
National developments in child care
The new building in Wunsiedel is part of a nationwide trend Bavarian state government emphasized. The expansion of child care is being pushed forward throughout Bavaria, especially for primary school students. Family Minister Ulrike Scharf emphasizes the importance of all-day care and points out that more than half of primary school children in Bavaria already take advantage of afternoon activities. The state funding program provides for this461 million eurosto support municipalities in expanding childcare places.
This positive development shows that the course is well set for the future of children in Wunsiedel and Bavaria overall. The city sets a good example and relies on modern, needs-based childcare.
