Bishop Jung enchants family pilgrimage with ice cream car surprise!

Maria Weißenstein, Südtirol, Italien - yesterday was a very special day for the many children and adolescents who gathered at the forecourt of the pilgrimage church in Maria Weißenstein. On the occasion of the family pilgrimage and in a great surprise campaign, everything was about the sweet cold joy: Bishop Dr. Franz Jung took on the task of spending the small pilgrims together with the operator of the Eiscafé 'Tre Valli', Dario Simonazzi. The idea behind this event was not only a refreshment for the young guests, but also a special celebration in honor of the bishop's consecration day. pow reports of radiant faces and ice-smeared dungarees of the children who have two balls in their favorite varieties such as vanilla, earthbeere, Pistachie and Nutella were allowed to choose.

After Simonazzi took numerous photos with the children with Bishop Jung, the ice cream seller said goodbye to make his ice cream mobile ready. The reactions of the little guests were overwhelming, and the joy was contagious - an experience that the families will surely remember for a long time.

Invitation to the big family pilgrimage

Another highlight is already in the starting blocks: the invitation to the family pilgrimage in Holy year 2025 is running. Under the motto "Pilgrim of Hope" Bishop Franz Jung invites all families to make a pilgrimage from Whit Monday, June 9th to Saturday, June 14, 2025. This pilgrimage is organized by the diocese of Würzburg and attaches particular importance to the community and the coexistence, both with Christ and with each other. Here not only prayer and service are on the program, but also play and joie de vivre. Spiritel.de emphasizes that the diocese subsidizes family prices to enable as many as possible.

Families with two adults and children pay 1190 EUR, while for single parents there is a fee of 690 EUR. The registration deadline is February 28, 2025, and the pilgrimage is aimed specifically at families with residence in the diocese of Würzburg. There is a contact for questions about the program at Familienwallfahrt@bistum-wuerzburg.de.

tradition and spirituality in the mountains

The pilgrimage church Maria Weißenstein is at a height of 1520 m and is a traditional place that has attracted pilgrims since 1553. Since 1718, the members of the Servite Order have taken care of the pilgrimage. The roots of this tradition go back to the miraculous healing of the farmer Leonhard Weißensteiner, who laid the foundation stone for the pilgrimage site. family.bistum-wuerzburg.de points out that in autumn 2024 the tender will be published with all relevant information and the program. Families who want to participate in this unique experience should therefore prepare in good time!
