Wasserwacht Weißenburg baptized Michi: Modern lifeboat for the Brombachsee!

Absberg, Deutschland - The Brombachsee is now being supported by a new lifeboat that has put the Wasserwacht Weißenburg into service. The boat, which was called "Michi", is not just a technical aid, but an emotional monument that is reminiscent of a recently deceased comrade. The baptism took place ceremoniously at the Seespitz wax station in Absberg, and numerous club members as well as guests of honor, including representatives of the district water guard and the Bavarian Red Cross, were found to attend this special moment.

The CEO of the BRK Südfranken, Peter Gallenmüller, underlined the immense importance of the voluntary work of the water rescuers, which are often lifeline in critical situations. Pastor Hans Rohmer kept a moving prayer to bless the boat and praised the firmly anchored camaraderie within the water rescuer community.

possible uses of the new boat

The chairman of the Wasserwacht Weißenburg, Jonas Endres, emphasized what a decisive role the new boat plays for quick and reliable assistance. Equipped with a flat construction and a bug flap to be opened forward, it enables simplified recovery of patients. The new means of use is therefore a real profit to make the water guard's operations more effective.

During baptism, those present had the opportunity to come together at a cold buffet and to take test drives with the new boat. Despite the uncomfortable weather, the event was well attended, which shows the great support and interest in the water guard.

water rescue service in Franconian Seenland

But the activities of the Wasserwacht Weißenburg are only part of a more comprehensive network in the Franconian Seenland. The Ansbach local association of the German Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft (DLRG) is also active at the Kleine Brombachsee, where the guard station is occupied on weekends during the summer season from May to September. Here, equipped with a emergency vehicle and several lifeguards, quick help and prevention are also on the program. The motorized rescue boat "Limes I" is constantly stationed there and serves the joint water rescue in cooperation with the Wasserwacht Weißenburg.

The tasks of the water guard are diverse - they range from upright and dragging capsized sailing boats to searching for missing children and the rescue of exhausted swimmers. This committed work is carried out by the volunteer, professionally trained rescue swimmers who act in mind with a clear goal: to ensure security on, in and on the water.

The Wasserwacht itself is part of the organization of the German Red Cross and not only pursues the claim to save human life, but also to act preventively through education and training.
