Shocking numbers: donating blood threaten to dry up - act now!

Weiden, Deutschland - On June 14, 2025, the World Blood Donation will be celebrated, a day that is dedicated to the blood donors who are invaluable to medical care in Germany. Tomorrow, numerous institutions will call on to participate in the blood donation dates and thus make a contribution to saving help for patients. This is all the more urgent because demographic changes in society continue to fall to falling donors, especially among younger age groups. The numbers make it clear: around 100,000 donors fail annually, which makes the situation even more impressive. Martin Oesterer from the German Red Cross explains that Germany has a special challenge, since both the number of hospital treatment and the proportion of patients over 65 years increases, which leads to an increased need for blood. Unfortunately, the tendency shows that only around 3 percent of the population wants to donate regularly, which endangers the solidary blood donation system. The need for donations of blood is necessary all year round. However, the number of donors traditionally decreases in the summer months, often due to vacation times and heat waves, as well as Bargteheidaktuell.de Especially during this time, the population is called to actively participate in the blood donation and to provide the pressing blood supplements.

The next blood donation dates in the Weiden area have already been determined. Interested parties can donate in the multi -purpose hall in Windischeschenbach from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Windischeschenbach. Numerous options are also available in Weiden itself: on June 23 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on June 24 from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Max Reger Hall. On June 26th we continue to the Ludwig Meier primary school in Etzenricht, also from 4 to 8 p.m. It is recommended to register for the appointments in advance in order to be able to plan the capacities optimally, and larger groups can also be taken into account by block bookings.

To be able to donate blood, the donors must be at least 18 years old, weigh 50 kilograms and present an official photo ID and, if necessary, a blood donation card. In doing so, you do a valuable service for the community and ensure that the clinics are well equipped on 365 days a year.
