Nature experience in the Lower Allgäu: 11 windows for blooming landscapes!”

In the picturesque Unterallgäu region, the Unterallgäu landscape conservation association. V. launched a very special campaign: “We make landscape”. This initiative aims to raise awareness among the population of the importance of traditionally maintained cultural landscapes. Wooden window frames were set up in a total of eleven selected locations in the district, offering impressive views of the species-rich meadows, fens, orchards and bubbling streams. These LPV windows are located along existing excursion paths and are accessible all summer long. Mercury reports about this exciting project.

“We do landscape” would like to invite people to actively perceive nature. Over a third of native animal and plant species are dependent on human activity. Preserving this biological diversity is only possible through nature-friendly and active care. On this basis, the landscape conservation associations organize maintenance measures, often in collaboration with local companies. This valuable work is supported by government grants, including from the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation, which supports a variety of projects in the areas of nature conservation and landscape conservation. BfN informed about how funding is provided and what conditions apply.

Insights into the diversity of nature

In addition to the views, visitors to the locations can also scan QR codes in the windows. These lead to special topic pages with further information and image comparisons that offer a deeper understanding of the beauty and preservation of local nature. An online picture gallery is available for all those who cannot find an LPV window. The LPV website also offers further information on biotope care and planned events.

Biotope maintenance is of crucial importance for the preservation of rare animal and plant species. Centuries of site-adapted management have shaped many common open-land habitats. However, in view of modern, high-performance agriculture, extensive land management is becoming less and less economically viable. This is where the landscape conservation association comes into play: through planning, organization and the acquisition of financial resources, it ensures the necessary maintenance measures. The LPV shows farmers how creating orchards can contribute to biodiversity.

The landscape conservation association's public relations work aims to stimulate interest in nature. Events such as practical days, excursions and exhibitions are intended to raise awareness of ecological issues. Such actions can motivate people who spend little time outdoors to consciously experience and appreciate nature.

With the “We make landscape” campaign, the Lower Allgäu not only gets exciting access to nature, but also the opportunity to actively work on its preservation. The combination of education, nature conservation and community creates a space for conscious perception and participation. If you have any questions about the location of the windows, you can contact the landscape conservation association at any time by email.
