Major fire in Unterallgäu: Fire brigade fights massive column of smoke!

A major fire caused massive excitement in Bad Grönenbach in the Lower Allgäu today. On Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out in the feed hall of an agricultural property, which attracted attention with a column of smoke that was visible from afar. Numerous firefighters were deployed to prevent the flames from spreading to surrounding buildings. The property was cordoned off extensively to protect those present. Fortunately, there have so far been no reports of any injuries or animals being harmed.

The cause of the fire is still unclear, which increases fears. Considering the fact that there have already been several major fires in Lower Allgäu in 2025, the situation remains tense. Among other things, the fire brigade had to be called out to two house fires in Boos and Memmingen, but fortunately no one was injured here either. This is particularly pleasing in view of the district's high population of 145,298, as the Allgäuer Zeitung reports.

Investigations and causes of fire

A look back shows that the investigation into a previous major fire in the Woringen forests in January of this year showed that faulty installations are often the reason for such incidents. In this fire, an incorrectly installed stovepipe was identified as the cause, which resulted in negligence on the part of the homeowner and enormous damage of around 500,000 euros. The New Facts describe that the Memmingen criminal police quickly investigated this case and first expressed suspicion of arson before they were able to reassure that there was no evidence of it.

According to the Brandschutz-Zentrale, fire-hazardous work is one of the most common causes of fires. In both professional and private environments, it is crucial to take safety precautions, especially when doing activities such as welding or soldering. Here it is important to have a good hand and rely on the expertise of specialist staff.

The city and the entire region are now looking forward to the ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire in Bad Grönenbach. The Lower Allgäu district administrator, Alex Eder (Free Voters), remains optimistic and appeals to all citizens to always pay attention to safety. After all, the Lower Allgäu is not only a home for many people, but also a place with agricultural heritage and beautiful natural sites that need to be protected.
