New transitional kindergarten in Tirschenreuth: construction progress is impressive!
Something is happening in terms of education in Tirschenreuth! The city shows its commitment by continually investing in early childhood care. A current construction project ensures that enough space is created for the little ones. The sixth kindergarten, a transitional facility, is currently being built in the city and will soon open its doors.
The aim of the transitional facility is to reduce overcrowding and will accommodate children from the Catholic and Protestant kindergartens, which will be renovated in the coming years. Mayor Franz Stahl and other responsible people recently had the construction progress shown and are satisfied with the status of the work. Construction began in mid-May 2025 and completion is scheduled for the end of July 2025. The total investment for the project amounts to around 2.1 million euros, although unfortunately no funding is available.
Sustainability in focus
A special aspect of the new kindergarten is the use of sustainable materials. Glued spruce wood is used in the construction, which creates a warm, cozy atmosphere. This underlines the city of Tirschenreuth's efforts to focus on ecological solutions. The facility is also equipped with infrared heating, which ensures a pleasant room climate with marble slabs on the ceiling.
As with other projects, the wooden construction is a conscious decision by the city to minimize loss of value. The flexible wooden modules also enable the building to be repurposed at a later date, should this be necessary. According to the construction company *KFB Projektentwicklung*, *Freiraum GmbH* and *Rupprecht GmbH*, the new kindergarten promises space for up to four groups and thus covers a significant part of the needs in the urban area.
Experiences and connections
The development and construction of such kindergartens is not new territory for many, because with over 20 years of experience in the turnkey construction of daycare centers, the new project in Tirschenreuth is also about meeting the increasing demand for childcare places. The use of wooden construction not only contributes to the comfort of the interior, but also promotes a healthy indoor climate for the children and teachers. This is a step in the right direction to create optimal childcare options that are both environmentally friendly and child-friendly, as proven in many other successful projects, such as the modern daycare center in Frankfurt's financial district.
Overall, with this project, Tirschenreuth shows that it is ready to invest in the future of education and to optimally support the little ones. With a good knack for sustainable solutions, a beautiful meeting place is created for the children, which benefits both the city and the parents.
