A bright blue sky and tropical temperatures over 30 degrees – the folk festival weekend in Straubing could hardly be better! Sports enthusiasts and partygoers met here to experience unforgettable moments together. How regio-aktuell24 reported, there were two sporting highlights on the program: the folk festival tournament for the old men's teams and the 1st Genussarena Wenisch Voixfest GirlsCup.
The sporting activities attracted the old men's teams from Kickers Plattling, SV Röhrnbach and FSV VfB Straubing. SV Röhrnbach was able to secure the tournament victory, while FSV VfB Straubing renounced the title. The trophy presentation was a highlight, led by AH leader Christian Schwarz. After the sporting competitions, the participants celebrated exuberantly in the Nothaft marquee, while the catering team served delicious food and drinks.
Passionate football and enjoyable variety
As part of the GirlsCup, eight women's teams competed against each other, with the final taking place between Brunn and Michelsneukirchen. In the end, Brunn relegated her opponent to second place, while Griesbach took third place against Aufhausen in the penalty shootout. FSV VfB Straubing came fifth and sixth in women's football, which underlined the teams' sporting achievements.
The entire event was under the patronage of Dr. Albert Solleder, who carried out the award ceremony in the marquee together with club representatives from FSV VfB Straubing. The event was also captured photographically by Lea Engl and Bella Ecker, who documented the valuable sporting moments.
Folk festival fun in the Genuss Arena
But the folk festival offers more than just sporting highlights. The Gäubodenvolksfest, which takes place in the new Genuss Arena Wenisch, will be celebrated from August 8th to 18th. A varied program with gourmet cuisine, live music and a special ambience awaits visitors here.
