Hardy's generosity: 2291 euros for the Starnberg animal shelter!

Something positive is happening in the Starnberg district: Hardy’s generously donated 2,291 euros to the local animal shelter. This sum comes from the cup deposit for 2024 and, as usual, will be donated to a good cause. The donation comes at just the right time because the animal shelter has some urgent renovation projects on its plate.

The cat house in particular is in dire need of renovation: there is a lack of running water and functioning heating. Sandra Eichner, who has been volunteering at the animal shelter for many years, also supports the facility by regularly donating her course fees there. Thanks to a lengthy approval process, the way for the renovation work is now clear, even if the amount required for the renovation has not yet been fully raised.

A heart for emergency animals

The Starnberg animal shelter, which has been run by the Starnberg and Surroundings Animal Welfare Association since 1953, works hard to provide domestic and wild animals in need with a better life. On an area of around 6,300 square meters, a team of around 20 people and around 50 volunteers look after the four-legged protégés. These volunteers work an impressive 250 hours per week and are active in a variety of areas: from cleaning out and feeding the animals to walking dogs and organizing events such as Christmas markets or flea markets.

The animal shelter was recently confronted with Tartufo, a one-year-old tomcat. Tartufo was given away by his owners after a serious car accident because the operation costs of over 5,000 euros were beyond their financial means. The animal shelter is now taking care of his recovery, and every donation helps to support similar cases so that animals in need can also be given a second chance.

Unique in the region

The Starnberg animal shelter is the only one of its kind in the district and has the capacity to accommodate around 20 dogs, 40 cats, 200 small animals and small wild animals in need of help. Particularly noteworthy is the competence in the reception and care of small wild animals and birds, which is strong compared to other facilities in the region. If you want to get involved in animal protection, you have many opportunities to volunteer. Further information can be found, for example, at Dog Rescue Europe, which presents various volunteer opportunities.

Overall, Hardy's donation shows not only the great heart of the population, but also the need to support such institutions. The Starnberg animal shelter does important work and every bit of help counts to improve the animals' quality of life.
