Serious accident on the B388: Seven injured, including a girl!
A serious traffic accident occurred on Saturday morning on federal highway 388 near Bayerbach in the Rottal-Inn district. According to the Borken newspaper A total of seven people were injured, including children. The fate of a five-year-old girl who had to be taken to hospital by rescue helicopter with serious head injuries is particularly tragic.
The accident occurred around 9 a.m. when a 30-year-old from Munich overlooked a car that had the right of way while driving onto the B388. This car, driven by a 30-year-old Austrian, had three other people on board, including two children. The collision resulted in the Austrian family's car being thrown into two oncoming vehicles before another car rear-ended. A total of eleven people were involved in the accident, with five adults and two children suffering minor to moderate injuries.
Injured people and rescue operation
The Austrian family - father, mother and their son - escaped lightly and were only slightly injured, while the daughter suffered serious head injuries. The Munich man's passenger and another driver also suffered minor injuries. All injured people were immediately taken to nearby hospitals.
The deployment of the rescue workers is particularly noteworthy: the federal highway had to be completely closed due to the accident. As the Passauer Neue Presse Reportedly, the road was not reopened until around 11:30 a.m. There was also a significant backlog because the Karpfham Festival was taking place in the region at the same time.
Damage and consequences
The material damage is estimated at around 70,000 euros. All vehicles involved had to be towed away. Fortunately, some of those involved in the accident were uninjured, but the statistics show once again how quickly a harmless journey can turn into a drama.
Luckily, a dog that was also involved only had to be taken to the vet. Such incidents remind us to always be vigilant on the roads and to keep a particularly close eye on children.
