Five seriously injured in a head-on collision in Dietersburg!
A serious traffic accident occurred on Thursday evening on state road 2112 in Dietersburg in the Rottal-Inn district. Loud PNP Five people were injured, some seriously. The accident occurred when a 20-year-old German-Serb overlooked an oncoming Ford while overtaking a truck and a collision occurred.
The Ford, driven by a 23-year-old Syrian, was hit head-on by the overtaking vehicle, causing both vehicles to be thrown into the ditch. The driver of the Ford suffered serious injuries. The person who caused the accident and his passenger also had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries, and a rescue helicopter flew one of the seriously injured people to a clinic. Two other occupants of the VW suffered minor injuries and were also taken to hospital.
Vehicles total loss
The outcome of the accident is sobering: both vehicles were totaled and the financial damage was estimated at 22,000 euros. The state highway had to be completely closed for around two hours, which caused some delays for road users.
The Red Cross and several fire departments from the communities of Pfarrkirchen, Furth, Dietersburg, Nöham and Johanniskirchen were on duty. Interestingly, the Pfarrkirchen fire department had recently been called to a false alarm at the woodworks when they were called to the scene of the accident immediately after returning.

Although the exact course of the accident is still being investigated, it shows once again how dangerous overtaking maneuvers on federal highways can be. Such tragic incidents remind us to act responsibly on the roads. In times of increasing traffic density and speed, increased caution is required.
