Memminger Indians unlucky goalkeeper: Roth takes Paterson-Jones' place
The Memmingen Indians have to adapt for the coming season. Before the first preseason game it was announced that goalkeeper Michael Paterson-Jones would not be able to start his contract due to injury. The 25-year-old has suffered a hip injury and is expected to be out for several months. The contract termination was mutual and Paterson-Jones will focus on his recovery in the United States. Therefore, those responsible at the Indians were forced to take action and signed a young keeper, Justus Roth.
Justus Roth is only 20 years old and brings a lot of fresh air with him. He comes from Essen and previously went through the youth teams of the Mannheim Young Eagles. After moving to the Mosquitoes Essen, he became the starting goalkeeper last season and was able to attract attention in the north with 36 appearances and the “Rookie of the Year” award. Since the club from Essen does not have a major league license, Roth was available and will now wear number 1 for the Indians. Louis Eisenhut remains in the squad as the third goalkeeper and also has great potential to support the team.
Successful start to the season
The Indians are already showing in the current season that they are on the right track. In their most recent game they beat the Alligators from Höchstadt 5-0, with Basti Flott-Kucis celebrating his second shutout of the season. In the derby against EV Füssen, the Memmingen team even won with a clear 7:2. Despite a short-term deficit caused by Bence Farkas, the Indians managed to turn the game around and ultimately deserved to win.
The Memmingen team is currently in second place in the table, just one point behind Bietigheim. Thanks to these strong performances, there is already great demand for season tickets for the new season. Sales are still ongoing and seat reservations have exceeded last year's mark, while standing room tickets are also in demand.
Preparing for the challenge
With the aim of having a successful season, the Memminger Indians' preparation begins on August 23rd with a home game against Ravensburg. The league season starts on September 19th. The Indians' current roster looks solid:
