A new wind at The Rosenheim Cops: Sarah Thonig follows Marisa Burger!

Fans of the popular ZDF series “The Rosenheim Cops” have to prepare for some changes. Sarah Thonig, who is known to many by her real name, will take on the role of secretary “Frau Lange” from season 26 onwards. This was reported by joyn.de and went on to say that she is taking over the iconic character of Marisa Burger, who shaped the face of the series for over 20 years as Miriam Stockl and especially for her saying “There was a corpse” was known.

Marisa Burger is leaving the series after being part of the “Rosenheim Cops” team since 2002. She caused a sensation with her improvised sentence and gained cult status among viewers. Sarah Thonig reiterated that this sentence is inextricably linked to Burger, so she does not presume to adopt it. Thonig herself, who started as a receptionist at the Rosenheim police headquarters in 2014, brings a carefree lightness to her new role, in which she will now take on more responsibility.

The change and new perspectives

The announcement of Thonig's new role came at the beginning of August 2025 and caused a lot of conversation among fans. “The Rosenheim Cops” is one of the most successful crime series on German television, regularly attracting over five million viewers. ZDF also announced that there would be “new dramaturgical possibilities,” which sparked interest in the development of the series. The current 25th season is currently being filmed and will be broadcast in 21 episodes.

But what happens next? Thonig made it clear that she plans to largely retain her predecessor's characteristics while at the same time putting her own stamp on it. ZDF has not yet made a final decision about the rest of the successor. Younes Tissinte is also mentioned as a possible successor, which further fuels speculation.

A look into the future

It is still uncertain how the new season will develop, as as of today there are no scripts for the 26th season. This will be broadcast from autumn 2026, which increases the anticipation among fans of the series. While Thonig has great respect for the role Burger played and highlighted its iconic nature, she is also confident about her own future on the popular series. The change in the cast could bring a breath of fresh air and further fuel interest in “The Rosenheim Cops”.

With this change in the cast and the announcement of new ideas for the season, it is exciting to see how the series will develop. Fans can look forward to the new adventures in Rosenheim, Bavaria, where criminal solutions and Bavarian humor go hand in hand.
