BioRegioRhön 2025: Celebrate 10 years of ecological enjoyment!
Next Sunday, October 26, 2025, the Wechterswinkel Monastery in Bastheim-Wechterswinkel will be transformed into a lively marketplace for regional organic delicacies. The “BioRegioRhön” event will open its gates from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and awaits everyone interested with a colorful program. The motto “Regional organic enjoyment at the BioRegioRhön” invites you to discover the culinary diversity of the region and find out about the latest trends in organic farming. So reported Main Franconia.
The event also celebrates the tenth anniversary of the eco-model region and aims to promote biological diversity and the direct marketing of regional products. Fresh vegetables, organic bread, delicacies, wine and numerous spreads await visitors. In addition to the opportunity to taste regional products, an exhibition entitled “Organic from Rhön-Grabfeld – from the field to the plate” is also planned. Those interested can gain insights into the manufacturing processes and find out about the background of organic farming.
Culinary and informative supporting program
At such a festival, exciting lectures and interactive formats should not be missing. Clear attractions include Svenja Arbes' lecture on the past ten years of the organic model region at 12:30 p.m. and the conversation with organic farmers from the ARGE Bio-Bauern at 1:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., bookworms and food lovers can take a look into the pots at Thomas König's organic cooking show and at 3:30 p.m. attend a culinary reading with Julia Rösch. These events not only provide entertainment but also valuable knowledge that affects both producers and consumers.
In addition, various specialist stands offer the opportunity to have personal conversations and exchange ideas about sustainable consumption and ecological business. The environmental education team from the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park and Biosphere Reserve will also be present with a craft activity for the little visitors. There is something for everyone - and all with free entry!
Organic farming in Germany
The event at Wechterswinkel Monastery is part of a larger trend: organic farming is enjoying increasing popularity in Germany. In 2024, the largest market for organic food in Europe was reached with sales of 16.99 billion euros, as well BMLEH reported. The production process of organic food is regulated by strict EU regulations that promote resource-saving and environmentally friendly cultivation. In the wake of this development, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Community (BMLEH) has launched various programs to support poorly performing companies.
All organic foods offered in Germany must meet comprehensive regulations and are regularly checked. The state organic seal offers consumers guidance and ensures that the products meet rigorous organic standards. The Organic Strategy 2030 also aims to expand organic farming to 30 percent by 2030, which should further stimulate the market.
Anyone who would like to take a trip into the world of regional organic enjoyment should not miss this event! The Wechterswinkel Monastery warmly welcomes all visitors and looks forward to a colorful exchange about the diversity of organic farming and regional products.
