Security comes first: CSD Regensburg under new signs!

Regensburg, Deutschland - The upcoming Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Regensburg, planned for July 5, 2025, is currently causing a lot of conversation and a certain concern. After an anonymous threatening letters that reached the applicant Alexander Irmisch, the organizers had to rethink their original plans. According to Regensburg Digital , however, the CSD is not canceled, but is adjusted.

Irisch has confirmed the threat to the reporting of ZDFheute. Security is in the top priority, and the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office (LKA) has been switched on, although the authority denied the investigation when asked. This shows how confusing the situation is currently. After a meeting with the police and the regulatory office, Irisch decided to shorten the route of the move through the old town and instead hold a stationary rally on the cathedral square. A street festival in Stadtamhof is also planned and should take place as planned. "We don't want to bow to the pressure", so irmissed.

a safe place for diversity

The CSD event has brought Regensburg's streets to life in the past, but this year everything is getting a little different. "It will be audible and visible," says Irmisch, while the team from the Queeres Regensburg association reacted to the "abstract threat situation". Misunderstandings regarding a cancellation had arisen from the reporting of the Mittelbayerische Zeitung. It is all the more important that the participants and emergency services are well protected.

This current uncertainty falls into a worrying trend: as the Tagesschau reported in Germany in Germany 2023 a worrying increase of around 50 percent compared to the previous year, with a total of 1,785 cases against LSBTIQ*people. These brutal offenses, which often include insults, acts of violence and threats, show how necessary are safe places for the queer community.

use for security and identity

In view of this situation, the board member of the CSD Germany association, Kai Bölle, emphasizes the increase in online threats and the activity of right-wing extremist groups that could announce counter-demonstrations. It is therefore all the more important that the police are sensitized at all levels and is decisive against possible disorders. So far, the spectrum of the threatening letter has not been assigned to the threat.

The social framework is turbulent and the fronts harden. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser recently asked to consistently pursue queer -anti -violence. The working group, founded in September 2022, has already submitted a final report to combat homophobers and transitual violence that emphasizes the need for a comprehensive security strategy for queer people.

The CSD in Regensburg promises despite the challenges to set a sign of diversity and tolerance - and that is also required. The city's citizens are invited not only to take part in the rally, but also to stand up for the security and visibility of the queer community. It will be a demonstration that prejudices and threats are not allowed to have the last word.
