Start your career at BMW: Open Training Day in Regensburg!
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the BMW Group plant in Regensburg will open its doors to all interested school graduates of 2026. The Open vocational training day takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the factory's Education Center (BIZ), which can be reached via Gate 5/BIZ. Various events and exhibitions offer visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of vocational training and find out about the numerous offers.
A special highlight of the day are the tours through the training workshops. Here, prospective trainees can gain practical insights and exchange ideas directly with experienced trainers and current trainees about job-specific requirements and opportunities. Career Orientation Plus emphasizes that no prior registration is required and accompanying persons are also welcome.
Diverse training opportunities
The BMW Group plant in Regensburg has a lot to offer for the coming years of training. Applicants can find their dream job in a total of eleven different professions. These include classic professions such as:
- Elektroniker für Betriebstechnik (w/m/x)
- Fertigungsmechaniker (w/m/x)
- KFZ-Mechatroniker (w/m/x)

IT training usually requires a secondary school leaving certificate, while a technical high school diploma or high school diploma is necessary for dual study programs. Grades are important, but the interest and personality of the applicant also counts. Applications for the apprenticeships start on July 31st and the application can be submitted via the BMW careers page.
Insights into development and production
The BMW Group plant in Regensburg has developed into one of the BMW Group's most important locations since it opened in 1986. Around 1,400 vehicles, including the BMW X1 and X2 models, leave the production halls every day. Thanks to a flexible manufacturing system, the plant not only produces a wide range of vehicles, but also employs around 9,250 people at the Regensburg and Wackersdorf locations, including around 350 trainees.
The plant recently received the “Factory of the Year” 2024 award in the “Outstanding Series Production” category and is also part of the BMW iFACTORY, which focuses on digitalization and intelligent networking. The next generation of models, also known as the New Class, will be produced here in the second half of the decade.
The dual training system is not only of great importance in the automotive industry, but also in many other areas. Like that BMBF reports, dual vocational training combines practical experience in the company with theoretical knowledge at vocational school and thus offers trainees the best preparation for their professional future. Young people benefit from over 1,000 recognized training occupations in Germany through individual career opportunities and further training opportunities.
Whether at the open vocational training day or during the entire training period – at BMW, school graduates find a first-class basis for their professional career. Take the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information and perhaps take the first step into a promising future!
