Jahn Regensburg loses 0:4 against Duisburg after Kühlwetter's sending off!

A cold wind blew over the Jahn Stadium when SSV Jahn Regensburg had to play against MSV Duisburg in the first home game of the new third division season. Unfortunately, the Regensburg team were unable to repeat their good start the previous week, when they drew against FC Ingolstadt. In the end there was a sobering 0:4 on the scoreboard, which spoiled the mood of many Jahn supporters.

A decisive scene in the game occurred in the 11th minute: Captain Christian Kühlwetter was shown the red card after a serious foul and left his team fighting with one man less. This setback cast a shadow over the entire game, which took a negative turn with the half-time score at 0-2 in Duisburg's favor. The goals for the guests were scored by Patrick Sussek, who scored in the 9th and 67th minutes, Jan-Simon Symalla in the 24th minute and Thilo Töpken, who secured the final result in the 63rd minute.

Defensive weaknesses and critical scenes

SSV Jahn's defense showed serious weaknesses, which the Duisburg team consistently exploited. Regensburg defender Leopold Wurm repeatedly revealed negligence, while keeper Felix Gebhardt did not show the necessary presence in critical situations. In the 54th minute, the MSV defense was unable to clear a free kick from Geipl, which almost led to another goal being conceded.

There were only a few bright spots for the Regensburg team. In the 82nd minute, Noß failed with a shot on goal, which Gebhardt cleared for a corner. However, this phase of the game suggested that Regensburg were fighting a losing battle. Their resistance was hardly there and Duisburg scored the goals far too easily. In the 64th minute, Sussek rounded Gebhardt and hit the empty goal, which completed the debacle.

A dissatisfied audience

After the final whistle, which ended in the 90th minute with four minutes of added time, many disappointed Jahn fans left the stadium. The feeling of disillusionment was obvious, especially after last season, which SSV ended bottom of the table in the second division. With the current performance, it will definitely be a long way to get back to our old strength.

The coach's words after the game must now be heeded urgently. Maybe it's not just tactics that are needed, but also a new mentality to remain competitive in the coming games. In the next round it is important to take a step forward again and not lose your composure so as not to remain in this sad dead end.

With this win, MSV Duisburg celebrated a strong start to the season after their return to the third division after starting the first match day successfully with a 2-1 win against VfB II. The next few weeks will show whether Regensburg can learn from this bitter defeat and whether Duisburg remains on the road to success.
