BMW Group Regensburg donates 10,000 euros for volunteer work

On December 1, 2025, the BMW Group will announce a special occasion: On the occasion of the upcoming Volunteer Day on December 5, the Regensburg plant will make a generous donation of 10,000 euros to the Volunteer Agency Regensburg e.V. support association. The plant manager Armin Ebner will hand over this donation personally; MdL Jürgen Mistol, first chairman of the support association, and Maria Simon, the head of the volunteer agency, will be there to receive it.

Why is BMW so committed to the region? The support association aims to financially support the volunteer agency, which in turn helps to promote civic engagement in Regensburg. The agency makes it easier for Regensburg residents to find suitable volunteer work and offers support for children and young people who are looking for their way into volunteer work. Their services are free, but they rely on financial contributions to continue their important work. As the volunteer agency emphasizes, volunteer work shapes coexistence in the city and contributes significantly to the liveliness of society.

The role of the BMW Group plant

The BMW Group plant in Regensburg, in operation since 1986, produces around 1,400 vehicles every day, including the popular BMW X1 and X2 models. The production flexibility of the plant makes it possible to produce various forms of drive – be it combustion engines, plug-in hybrids or fully electric drives – on one line. This versatility was recognized in 2024 with the “Factory of the Year” award in the “Outstanding Series Production” category.

But the future has even more in store: Production of the “New Class” is scheduled to begin in the second half of the decade, which will further position the plant on the path to becoming a digital and intelligently networked factory with the BMW iFACTORY. Around 9,250 people are employed at the Regensburg and Wackersdorf locations, including around 350 trainees, who ensure that manufacturing and development in Bavaria remains successful.

Voluntary initiatives strengthen the community

The importance of volunteering and civic engagement is reflected not only in the work of the volunteer agency, but also in the wide range of organizations and initiatives registered there. Through the agency, around 300 organizations have access to committed volunteers who offer their services for various social, cultural and environmental projects. This is particularly important for the many volunteers who often work with few resources and yet make a crucial contribution to urban society.

On Volunteering Day, not only the help of volunteers is recognized, but also the valuable support from companies like the BMW Group, which are committed to social issues. In times when many people have to overcome challenges, such initiatives are more in demand and necessary than ever.
