Bavaria in the railway: Munich ends up in last place!

In an insightful new quality ranking of the Bavarian railway company (BEG), the train stations in Bavaria are in a light anything but intoxicating light. As tz.de have been analyzed over 1,000 train stations and holding points in the Freista dissatisfactory reviews. The situation in the Munich region, which became the bottom of the ranking, is particularly alarming

The BEG evaluates the station quality based on a scale from -100 to +100 points. The value of zero marks the minimum requirements specified by the BEG. In the last examination, which refers to 2024, only the West Franconia (DB Region Netz Infrastructure) achieved a positive value with 37.83 points and thus took first place. As well as the Busplaner remained under this minimal threshold.

where does the shoe press?

The most common defects can be found in the areas of passenger information, cleanliness and equipment. Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter (CSU) comments concerned about the results and describes them as insufficient. The point of points in Munich is particularly fateful, which is far below the minimum requirements with -47.50 points. On the other hand, the West Frankenbahn does not only cut off well with the cleanliness, but also convinces in general functionality.

  • West Frankenbahn: 37.83 points
  • Südostbayernbahn: -7.17 points
  • rosenheim: -7.20 points
  • Nuremberg: -7.39 points
  • north Franconia: -22.05 points
  • Regensburg: -25.21 points
  • Augsburg: -33.57 points
  • Munich: -47.50 points

It is no secret that the Bavarian railway company attaches great importance to the seamless review of service quality. The train stations have been tested regularly since 2008. External examiners not only check the cleanliness, but also the functionality of the equipment and the quality of the passenger information. Bahnland Bavaria added that around 100 to 200 tests are carried out per year in order to provide meaningful data and to promote necessary improvements.

A lot of praise for the West Franconia Bahn

While the West Franconia with its 34 rated stations is at the top of the ranking, the Bavaria -wide average of all the stations tested is -14.03 points. In this respect, it becomes clear that there is a considerable need for action here. The BEG communicates openly with those responsible for the station management to analyze the test results and request specific measures to improve.

The knowledge from the analysis should not only point out the weaknesses, but also create incentives to improve. Every year, over 150 million euros of the Free State of Bavaria flow into the operation of the railway stations in rail traffic - money that should be well invested in order to further increase the quality and service for passengers.
