Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Deutschland - On Wednesday, July 4, 2025, around 140 senior citizens from Pfaffenhofen broke up for an exciting city excursion to the “St. Ottilien” monastery. Accompanied by Mayor Thomas Herker (SPD), the participants had the opportunity to take part in a monastery tour or to use the time free of charge. After a cozy lunch, we went on a relaxing boat trip over Lake Starnberg. Herker thanked the senior citizens' office and the many volunteers who organized this successful day. Heidi Andre, the head of the senior citizen office, has already announced a new trip for the coming spring and is looking forward to another joint experience.
Another highlight in the region is the upcoming “city cycling” campaign in the Pfaffenhofen district, which will take place from July 5th to 25th. The start of the bicycle tour begins on July 5 at 10 a.m. in front of the town hall in Pfaffenhofen and is very popular. The tour leads over 33 kilometers and extends through Schönthaler Berg, Eutenhofen, Ehrenberg and Pörnbach. Participation is free of charge, registration is not necessary, and in bad weather the organizers reserve the right to cancel the tour.

On July 5th, “Waldbaden” is also announced at the forest playground between Pfaffenhofen and Hettenshausen travel. Under the direction of health consultant Sylvia Spaude, participants can participate in mindfulness and sensory exercises from 2 to 5 p.m. Cost for this: 20 euros per person. This form of nature experience is not only relaxing, but has many health benefits. Studies show that forest bathing is reducing stress and mental health strengthens. The participants are encouraged to show themselves in convenient, weather -appropriate clothing, and should bring is mat or ceilings as well as a healthy snack. Experience has shown that Waldbaden helps to increase the joy of nature, improve mobility and promote well -being.
Waldbaden, also known as Shinrin Yoku, has its origin in Japan and promotes relaxation through slow movements and conscious perception of nature. Seniors who participate regularly often report an improved mood and more energy. The activities include gentle walking, breathing exercises and mindfulness exercises that help to compensate for blood pressure and sharpen the senses. For an optimal effect, it is recommended to practice forest bathing at least once a week.
