Night of Hope: Pilgrims invite you to celebrate in Vilsheim!

Vilsheim, Deutschland - What's new in Vilsheim? On Friday, June 17, 2025, the Deanery Vilsheim and the parish churches invite you to a very special event: the "Night of Hope". This event is all about the Holy Year, which Pope Francis and his proclaimed announcement bull launched "Spes Non Confundit" for 2025. A call that is aimed at all believers: be a pilgrim of hope in difficult times!

The "Night of Hope" has set itself the goal of spreading a light of confidence, especially in uncertain times. The event is aimed at everyone who wants to find strength. Everyone is cordially invited to spend the night together and support each other. This gathering in the parish church should set a sign of solidarity and community.

a holy year for everyone

The Holy Year 2025 begins on December 24, 2024 with the opening of the holy gate in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and ends on December 28, 2025. Pope Francis has focused on the importance of hope and emphasizes that it is particularly important for various groups, such as migrants and needy people. Because as can be read to the Romans in the letter of the apostle Paul, hope for eternal life remains a central topic for all believers.

The Pope will explain at the beginning of this special year how the indulgence, an important element of faith, can be obtained. Entrance means the issuance of a time punishment for sins that have already been awarded, and the granting of this estate is the responsibility of the church, which exerts the binding and solvation of Jesus Christ.

a sign of hope

In addition to the traditional pilgrimage to the seven main churches,

for pilgrims will also be “further ways of faith”. These are intended to help promote the intensive experience of grace and hope. The indulgence is described as a means of recognizing God's love and mercy even more, while the forgiveness of sins in the sacrament of penance remains an essential step on the way of faith.

The Mother of God is emphasized as the highest witness of hope. Catechism explains that the community of the saints enables the exchange of spiritual goods among the believers, which benefits the community and cohesion in times of need.

In summary, the "Night of Hope" shows how important it is to meet as a community and to share the light of hope in times of uncertainty. The event in the parish church of Vilsheim will be another step towards a stronger coexistence in the context of the Holy Year. It is an invitation to all of us to be part of this special way of hope.
