Three strokes to the festival: Oide Dult in Passau is enthusiastic and small!

The anticipation among the Passauer was great when the seventh edition of the Oiden Dult was officially opened on Monday. Mayor Jürgen Dupper gave the starting signal for the popular folk festival in the monastery garden with three strong strokes. In bright sunshine, he filled the first beer barrel into the mug, and the atmosphere was exuberant and happy from the start. Visitors quickly made their way to the monastery garden to initiate the opening of the festival.

The Oide Dult, which has been an integral part of the Passau event calendar every year since her first event in 2017, offers a colorful and entertaining program for the whole family. Organizer Till Hoffmann prepared numerous attractions. This includes the traditional pemperlpater carousel, the popular hau the Lukas hammer game and various shooting booths. The physical well -being is also well taken care of: the guests can enjoy fresh connector and fried almonds while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

tradition in the monastery garden

The monastery garden, which was once known as a small parade place, has a long history as the event location of the Passau Maidult, which was first mentioned in 1666 as a “Krügermarkt zu Sankt Nikola”. The Maidult took place in the exhibition center in Kohlbruck since 2000 after the Passau citizens voted for the laying in a citizens' request. But the desire for a folk festival in the “Neue Mitte” was loud, and the Oide Dult finally found its place in the monastery garden.

This return to the roots is accompanied by many assumptions and emotions. In his opening speech, Dupper emphasized the connection between the Passauer with the Dult and thanked Hoffmann, his team and the exhibitors who contribute to the success of the festival. The prominent guests included MdB Hans Koller and City Councilor Alois Ortner.

a folk festival for everyone

folk festivals enjoy a special status in Bavaria. They combine tradition and modernity and attract people from all age groups. This is also clearly noticeable on the Oiden Dult. Lived Bavarian tradition, plus suitable costumes and dirndls who support this carefree occasion are welcome, but not absolutely necessary. The Oide Dult is part of the brilliant list of Bavarian folk festivals, which ranges from Munich Oktoberfest to smaller festivals such as the maidult and autumn dult in Passau.

to Sunday, visitors can experience the diverse offers and attractions every day. The enthusiasm for the Oide Dult cannot be denied: In a short time, the festival has conquered a permanent place in the heart of the Passau population and shows that community and tradition are still alive today.
