Christian Titz takes over coaching office at Hannover 96 - new era begins!

An exciting chapter in the 2nd Bundesliga begins: Christian Titz, the successful coach of the 1st FC Magdeburg, becomes head coach of Hannover 96. This announcement came after weeks of negotiations between the two clubs and was happily accepted by Managing Director Marcus Mann. This emphasizes Titz 'clear trainer philosophy, which includes a formative style of play and the integration of young talents. Titz signed a two-year contract, accompanied by assistant coach André Kilian, who also comes from Magdeburg. Lars Barlemann remains in the Hanover coaching team.

The takeover of Titz marks a new beginning for Hannover 96, which has always been struggling with coaching changes in recent years. Last season the club was looked after by three coaches: Stefen Leitl, André Breitenreiter and Lars Barlemann. Despite the efforts, Hannover 96 now missed promotion to the Bundesliga for the sixth time in a row. Those responsible give great hopes for Titz, who should bring the team to the right course.

success record in Magdeburg

Christian Titz can look back on a remarkable time at the 1st FC Magdeburg. When he took over the helm in February 2021, he found himself in the last place in the 3rd league with the club. Thanks to his leadership, the relegation could be secured. In the following season, he managed to win the third division championship with the team all the more impressive and set a record with 83 goals in 36 games. In the following three seasons he established 1. FC Magdeburg in the 2nd league, where last season ended with a solid 5th place.

The anticipation for working with his new team is noticeable at Titz. He expressed gratitude for the trust they had placed in them and emphasizes that he is full of vigor into the new challenge. The first day of training under his leadership will take place next Saturday, and the fans should be excited to see how the team will develop.

A look at the past

Before Titz worked in Magdeburg, he was a coach at Hamburger SV, among other things, and also had shorter stations at FC 08 Homburg and as a coach at 1. FC Passau in the Bayernliga. In his last commitment to the 1st FC Passau, he could not prevent the relegation - not an easy legacy that he is now in Hanover after the last change of coaching showed a clear need for action.

Hannover 96 will not only rely on Titz 'experiences, but also on the skills of assistant coach André Kilian. This previously brought success as a coach of Schalke A-Juniors at FC Schalke 04 and will support Titz in the new team of coaches. The club is excited to see whether these personnel changes can finally be realized.

Finally, it shows that the change of coach in the 2nd Bundesliga is a common but often necessary measure to achieve sporting goals. As the many changes of last season illustrate, the pressure remains great, which also applies to Hanover and Titz. However, those responsible are convinced that they have found a trainer with Titz, the fresh wind brings to the club and will start a success project. So nothing will be in the way of an exciting coming season.
