A real highlight for all health-conscious Nuremberg residents is approaching! On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the 27th Nuremberg Health Market will take place at Jakobsplatz from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event, which is organized by the health department and the contact and information point for self-help groups in Nuremberg-Fürth-Erlangen (Kiss), promises an informative and varied program for all age groups.

This year a fresh wind is blowing through the ranks of exhibitors. Over 60 social institutions and self-help groups have announced their intention to give visitors a deep insight into numerous health topics. People can find out about topics such as obesity, larynx operations, head and neck tumors and vitiligo. The focus is also on areas such as psychological stress, outpatient home care and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections. Oncological diseases are also a big topic, such as the special group “Women with Confidence,” which is dedicated to cancer self-help.

A colorful program for everyone

The stands will be set up on the day of the event from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., but no food or drinks may be served at the stands. Interested exhibitors can register until March 1, 2026. After the last few years, which attracted over 60 social and health organizations, this health market will once again be one of the latest highlights of the Nuremberg health calendar.

Particularly noteworthy is the wide range of information on offer, in which numerous organizations are involved. These include the VKL, which offers special support for those affected by throat cancer, and the BZKF, which provides information about cutting-edge oncological medicine in Bavaria. The DGM, the self-help organization for people with neuromuscular diseases, will also present its advisory activities.

Self-help: Strong together

The self-help groups not only offer information materials, but also a space for personal discussions and support. The Cancer Information Service describes Frauenselbthilfe Krebs e.V. as one of the largest self-help organizations in Germany that specializes in breast and gynecological cancer. Their 6-point program includes both psychosocial support and support for cancer sufferers in various life situations.

There are also online self-help meetings, such as the topic “Bold, colorful, active – living with metastases”, where affected women can exchange ideas in a protected setting. Initiatives such as “Good against mental illness” offer special programs for men and promote the exchange of information about illnesses. The variety of offers shows how important self-help and solidarity are in overcoming the challenges of cancer.
