Unknown people show Hitler salute in Schwandorf – police are desperately investigating!

A worrying incident in Schwandorf is currently being intensively investigated. On Tuesday afternoon, emergency services combed the station area after a 59-year-old woman accused three older men of giving the Hitler salute. The police responded immediately, but the extensive search yielded no results. According to a police press release, the men shouted "Heil Hitler" and raised their right arms while the woman found the courage to speak to them. She was greeted with “Schleich di” and even after an intensive search, the police were unable to find either perpetrators or witnesses. Even camera footage failed to provide any support for the woman's claims, calling into question the credibility of the incident. The only clue is the vague description of the perpetrators, who were characterized as three older men, one of whom was said to be fat.Oberpfalz24 reports, that the police could not find any objective evidence or confirmation of the allegations, which raises questions about the proportionality of the police operation.

What could be the background to such scandalous events? In fact, right-wing extremist tendencies appear to be gaining momentum in the region. Just a few days earlier, the public order office in Schwandorf became aware of two men who were spreading right-wing slogans near the hospital garden. One of the men also gave the Hitler salute and shouted “Sieg Heil”. The other insulted the public order office employees, which ultimately led to him being expelled. While the men sat on a wall and played a speech by Adolf Hitler on a music box, the security forces moved forward and intervened. Even if the situation there had a different dimension, the presence of such incidents is and remains alarming.Central Bavarian reportsthat one of the men will face charges for using the symbols of unconstitutional organizations.

Right-wing extremism in focus

Der Verfassungsschutz liefert zudem Aufschlüsse über die Themen dieser Gewaltbereitschaft: Asyl, Migration und queerfeindliche Agitation stehen im Vordergrund.

The measures carried out by the police in Schwandorf, triggered by the woman's descriptions, can be seen as part of a larger discussion about how to deal with right-wing extremist statements and behavior. The number of right-wing extremist demonstrations remains high, underlining the need for preventive measures. It is hoped that police in the region will continue their work to contain such threatening incidents and protect the public from potentially dangerous currents.
