SPD Neuburg celebrates successes: Modern, united and ready for mayor election!

The Neuburg SPD local association celebrated its traditional end-of-year celebration on December 5, 2025 at the Pfafflinger inn. On this occasion, the local association chairman Waheed Niaz welcomed an illustrious group of guests, including Werner Widuckel, district chairman and district administrator candidate, as well as Gerhard Schoder, the joint mayoral candidate, and city councilor Horst Gutjahr. This meeting was all about looking back on the past year and looking ahead to the upcoming elections.

Waheed Niaz drew a positive conclusion and reported on the organizational realignment and rejuvenation of the local association. The SPD Neuburg presents itself as a “modern, lively and open” association. A central concern of the meeting was support for Gerhard Schoder as the joint mayoral candidate for the election on March 8, 2026. Clear decisions were made: They will not put forward their own candidate, which was done from a position of strength. This unity among the members was expressly praised by Werner Widuckel, who also emphasized the positive development of the local association.

Commitment to social justice

The social-political orientation of the local association also remained a central topic. Social justice remains at the heart of the SPD's local politics. Important points of discussion were the planning of the second Danube bridge, the possibility of a bicycle bridge and the future direction of local public transport. Group spokesman Ralph Bartoscheck emphasized the relevance of these political issues and their importance for citizens1.

Another highlight of the celebration was the honoring of long-standing members. Edeltraud Jakobfalvy was honored with the gold badge of honor for her 50 years of membership in the SPD. This tradition of appreciation shows the strong community within the club. In addition, the local association welcomed six new members – three women and three men – and thus a bit of a breath of fresh air.

Men's health in focus

As part of Movember, an international campaign to raise awareness of men's health, many in attendance symbolically wore mustaches. This campaign provided a visible sign of support and made an important statement in the men's health debate. In this context, Niaz emphasized that men also need space for health care and support. This makes it clear that the SPD Neuburg is not only politically active, but also assumes social responsibility2.

In summary, it can be said that the end-of-year celebration of the Neuburg SPD local association was not only a look back at the past year, but also gave a clear outlook on the challenges ahead, especially the upcoming mayoral election. The members are ready to work together with citizens to shape the future and to actively implement their political ideas and projects. Further information and topics are also regularly published on the website and via social media in order to make the commitment public3.
