Double gold: Oberstdorf and Bavaria dominate the table tennis championships!
The table tennis teams from Bavaria were well represented in an exciting competition last weekend. On June 15, 2025, TSV Oberstdorf for the girls U15 and FC Bayern Munich for the girls U19 were crowned German team champions. Both teams showed exceptional performances and had fans cheering.
Eva Gao, who recently showed an excellent performance at the U15 girls' individual championships in Erfurt and won the silver medal, led her club, TSV Oberstdorf, to victory in Jülich. In the exciting final, the Oberstdorf women beat Borussia Düsseldorf with a clear 6:3. This outstanding team performance cemented their place among the best table tennis teams in Germany and will be remembered by everyone involved for a long time. They have successfully made up for the gap from the last championship, where they took second place. BTTV reports about the exciting games and the girls' celebration of victory.
FC Bayern Munich: defending their title in the U19
FC Bayern Munich was able to successfully defend the title in the girls U19 category and showed that they are the best in German table tennis. In Salzgitter they prevailed in the final against TSV Korntal, which was made possible by the strong performances of Theresa Faltermaier, Anna Ledwoch, Emilia Schorr, Anda Qeku and Chiara Stein. Faltermaier contributed decisive points to the overall result of 6:3 with a confident 3-0 win over Rhea Zhu Chen.
What was particularly remarkable was the fact that the FCB team went into the match with a lack of sleep after a false alarm at night on the final day. Despite these adversities, the players showed strong nerves and proved that they have a good knack for decisive games. The pressure doesn't seem to have had any effect on the Munich team. BTTV highlights the impressive tournament and pays respect to the young people for their achievements.
The gentlemen and the other results
While the girls from Bavaria shone, the DJK SpVgg Effeltrich team was less successful with the boys U15. In the semi-finals they had to admit defeat to TTC immoXone Bietigheim-Bissingen with 2:6. In the small final against Borussia Düsseldorf, Effeltrich also remained without a medal and ended up in fourth place with a 3:6.
FC Bayern Munich came fourth in the group for the boys U19 and was able to secure fifth place in the consolation round, but here too things didn't go as smoothly as for the girls. Overall, it was clear that table tennis is very popular in Bavaria and enthusiasm for the upcoming championships continues to grow. The play dates The 2024 youth championships have already been confirmed and promise exciting competitions.
