At a crucial meeting on Thursday, August 13, 2025, the Kirchdorf local council set the course for the future. In a meeting chaired by District Administrator Max Heimerl, the committee discussed joining the new “Landkreiswerk Mühldorf a. Inn”. Kirchdorf originally had concerns about possible high costs and decided against joining. However, Heimerl put convincing arguments on the table: Membership could ensure affordable renewable energies and increase independence from third-party providers. Finally, after Heimerl's presentation, the local council gave the green light for membership, which indicates a rethink on the part of local politicians.

The founding of the district plant
The new district plant will be founded as a municipal company and will be put into operation after approval by the government of Upper Bavaria. As early as July 29, 2025, 23 mayors and the district administrator signed the contracts for the district plant - Kirchdorf was not known to have been a part of it up to this point.
