Things are going green in Elsenfeld! On October 9, 2025, the Miltenberg Landscape Conservation Association, together with the district's orchard advisor, invites you to an exciting practical workshop. Under the motto “Planting fruit trees correctly”, those interested can learn how they can avoid mistakes when planting fruit trees and create the perfect conditions for healthy, long-lasting tree trunks. The workshop takes place in the picturesque orchard area “Im Höning” near the Hofstetten roundabout on the Elsenfeld bypass road.
According to the motto “Good things take time”, careful planting is the focus of the workshop. The fact that a properly planted tree can become a hundred-year-old shows the importance of the right approach. Participants learn, among other things, how to properly prepare the planting hole and what factors need to be taken into account. A diameter of around 80 cm and a depth of 45 cm are crucial when digging the planting hole so as not to lose sight of the property boundaries and the alignment of the rows of trees.
Practical knowledge for everyone
The workshop is not just a theoretical event - participants are allowed to actively ask questions and receive valuable tips on important topics such as support posts, plant pruning and the correct care of the tree disc. Particular attention is also paid to root pruning and the correct connection to the plant post. These are essential steps to enable the tree to grow stably and to give it that important jump-start.
Another important point: proper watering and protection of the trunk are essential in the first few years after planting. For this purpose, it is advisable to create a watering edge to optimize the water supply.
