Bus and train: Miltenberg district wants to relieve students!
There is an important topic on the agenda in the Miltenberg district: many students have great difficulty with the costs of their daily trips to school. The district committee plans to discuss solutions this evening to relieve the students of bus and train tickets. Many of them currently need a monthly ticket, which in many cases is more expensive than the popular Germany ticket. This costs 58 euros per month, but cannot be used by all students. The problem is getting worse because some schools or transport associations offer their own monthly tickets, which can be even more expensive than the Germany ticket and thus increase the financial burden for the families affected.
So there is a noticeable cost gap. While some students are hoping for the Deutschlandticket to save money, they are forced to use the more expensive alternatives. The district committee will now discuss whether the district should cover the additional costs or whether the students and their families must continue to bear the additional financial burden themselves. This discussion is particularly important for students from financially weaker families.
The Deutschlandticket School: A solution?
The Germany Ticket School could be a potential solution for many students. This version of the Germany Ticket is specifically tailored to children, teenagers and young adults up to and including 25 years of age. The ticket is valid for students whose schools take part in this program and offers its advantages throughout Germany on local transport, such as on trams, subways and regional trains. The monthly price is 38 euros, making it a more attractive option for families.
However, the Deutschlandticket Schule is only available as a subscription and is not valid for long-distance trains or private providers such as FlixTrain. However, the ticket can also provide relief for families who are entitled to reimbursement of travel costs. Here the personal contribution is 14 euros for the first child and 7 euros for the second child per month, which could be a relief, especially for large families. These regulations could also provide relief in the Miltenberg district if the program is introduced here.
Further support measures
In order to improve the situation of students, there are already extensive support measures in other cities. In Dortmund, for example, families who are financially weaker can use various online services. This includes information on educational advice, integration assistance and even special services for children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Such offers could also be taken up in the Miltenberg district to make it easier for the affected students to get to school.
The conversation about the financial challenges that students in the Miltenberg district face is urgently needed. Tonight's discussion could be crucial for future student support and possibly lead to financial relief for many families.
