Increase in crimes: Miesbach's safety record in 2024 in focus!
The security discussion at the Miesbach police station on August 13, 2025 provided interesting insights into the development of crime in the district. Head of department Katharina Schreiber presented the figures for 2024 and explained the developments within the 343 square kilometer area of responsibility, in which 38,378 residents live. The communities include Hausham, Irschenberg, Fischbachau, Bayrischzell, Schliersee and Miesbach.
A look at the crime statistics shows: A total of 1,350 crimes were recorded in 2024, which is 123 more cases than in the previous year. However, the clearance rate improved to 68.8 percent, which is above the Bavarian average of 64.9 percent. Compared to the Miesbach district, which has a rate of 67.3 percent, the Miesbach police station is doing quite well. The frequency number (HKZ) for crimes is 3,517, while it is 3,575 in the entire district.
Detailed insights into the numbers
The crime rate varies across communities. Fischbachau has a particularly low crime rate with a frequency number of 2,114. Nevertheless, there were two crimes against life in 2024, while there were no such cases in the previous year. In addition, sexual offenses increased from 31 to 49 cases, which is a worrying trend.
However, positive news is the decline in violations of the Narcotics Act, which fell from 141 to 75 cases. However, compared to the previous year, there was an increase in property crimes from 296 to 337 crimes, while residential burglaries increased significantly from four to 19 cases. Property damage also increased significantly, from 147 to 185 cases.
But not only crime, but also road safety was the topic of the meeting. There were 976 traffic accidents in 2024, a decrease of 3.74 percent. Nevertheless, there were 162 personal injury accidents and one death due to an accident. Excessive speed remains particularly dangerous and is associated with 81 serious accidents. Alcohol-related accidents were also an issue with 21 cases, including a high of 3.10 per mille.
The police regularly carry out speed checks - in 2024, 185 checks took place, during which 1,826 complaints were recorded. A lightning marathon in April resulted in five complaints about speeding. Accidents on the way to school also did not go unnoticed: three incidents occurred in which all students involved were slightly injured.
A complex crime situation
However, current crime developments cannot be assessed very clearly. While the police crime statistics (PKS) show that crime in Germany fell by 1.7 percent in 2024, there are increasing trends in certain areas. The partial legalization of cannabis possession since April 1, 2024 has led to a decrease in cannabis crimes, but this cannot compensate for the increase in other crimes that affect people's sense of security. A look at the nationwide figures shows that crimes such as theft, property and forgery crimes are the order of the day.
Overall, it remains exciting to see how the security situation in Miesbach will develop. The police are planning increased controls to increase road safety and give citizens a feeling of safety. Because security is an important asset that is worth increasing the stakes for.
