Miesbach honors heroes of the volunteer in the Bavarian court!

In the festive ambience of the Bavarian court, over 50 committed volunteers from the Miesbach district were honored on July 6, 2025. This event, which took place as part of the final campaign of the "Readers help readers" initiative, is a nice tradition that has been cultivated since 2007 under the direction of Astrid Achterberg. District Administrator Olaf von Löwis described the excellent as "lighthouses of society", which, through their voluntary and unpaid commitment, represent an invaluable value for the community. The President of the Landtag Ilse Aigner and member of the Bundestag Karl Bär, who underlined the importance of volunteering, were also present

Martina Etstaller was honored for her remarkable 30-year commitment to the benefit hair cutting, whose revenues of the “Readers help readers” campaign were paid. Max Niedermeier was awarded for his decades of use for integration, which is particularly important in today's world.

According to Statista , the commitment in sports clubs is particularly high, followed by the volunteer fire brigade and the churches. The boards also complain about an increasing need for helpers, which shows how important volunteer work is in different areas.

For all those who are not yet in volunteering, there are many ways to get involved. The International Day of Voluntary on December 5 reminds us of how valuable each individual is for the community. Align your attention to local initiatives and take part - because there is really something!
