What a top-class football festival! FC Bayern Munich has its first game at the new one FIFA Club World Cup won with an impressive 10-0 (6-0) against Auckland City at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. In front of 21,152 spectators, Bayern showed a dominant performance, which was celebrated not only with a clear victory, but also with numerous goals.
The Munich team left no doubts right from the start. Kingsley Coman opened the scoring in the 6th minute. In the first half, Sacha Boey (18th minute) and Michael Olise (20th, 45th + 3 minutes) increased the score to 3-0. Coman was there again and scored in the 21st minute, while Thomas Müller netted just before half-time (44th minute). We went into the locker room with a comfortable 6-0.
Musiala impresses with a hat trick
After the break came the real star of the game: Jamal Musiala, who scored three times after being substituted on in the second half (68th, 73rd and 84th minutes). He capped his hat trick with a penalty and a goal after a mistake by goalkeeper Conor Tracey. Thomas Müller also contributed the tenth goal in the 89th minute, setting a new record for the highest win in the history of the Club World Cup. Musiala was consequently named Man of the Match.
The new Bayern coach Vincent Kompany emphasized the seriousness of his players: “We took the game seriously and clearly showed that we are here to win.” Special mention went to new signing Jonathan Tah, who provided the assist for Coman's first goal. With Manuel Neuer in goal, who was hardly challenged, the Bayern team was in an excellent position.
On to the round against Boca Juniors
With this victory, Bayern have not only put the first exclamation mark in the new Club World Cup, which has been held in the new format with 32 teams since 2025, but they are now preparing for their next opponent. In Miami the team will face Boca Juniors, who are also in Group C. In addition to Bayern, Benfica Lisbon and of course the representative from Oceania, Auckland City, are also part of this exciting group.
With the new format, which will be held in the United States for the first time in 2025, FIFA replaces the previous structure of just seven teams to expand participation from different associations and align with the national team World Cup. The FUFA Club World Cup has received a mixed response from fans and pundits, especially in Europe, while in South America it is considered the premier award for club teams.
