Torchlight hike: 130 young people brighten November in Lichtenfels!
One of the most traditional events in the Lichtenfels district recently took place: the youth fire brigade's torchlight hike. On November 10, 2025, around 130 young people and carers set off from the fire station in Unterneuses to go together through the cold November night. The district youth fire brigade warden, district fire chief Tino Schamberger, handed the district fire chief Thilo Kraus a table pennant from the district fire brigade association to mark its 30th anniversary.
The hiking route took the group over the Pferdesfeld to the hiking car park at Ansberg (Veitsberg). Participants had the opportunity to warm themselves at fire bowls and take a drink break. It was particularly nice that the torches were lit after dark, which gave the event a magical atmosphere. After the almost six kilometer route, bratwursts and cheese rolls were waiting for the hungry hikers while they exchanged ideas about their experiences.
Promote community and exchange
The torchlight hike is not only a sporting endeavor, but also an important event to promote community among young people and the various fire departments. Despite the cold and damp weather, most participants preferred to stay outside to take advantage of the opportunity to socialize around the fire bowls and stoves instead of using the fire department's heated interior. This shows once again how important this form of communication and getting to know each other is.
The organizers are pleased that the hike was again so well attended and that many young people took the opportunity to network and make new friends. The many conversations surrounding the fire bowls show that such events offer much more than just a simple reason to exercise.
A look into the digital world: Google Maps
Overall, the torchlight hike was a successful event that, in addition to promoting the community, also shows that the fire departments in the Lichtenfels district maintain a strong sense of solidarity. We can only hope that next year even more young people will support this tradition and make new friends in the process.
