Landshut eco-model region: organic apples for schools and communities!
An exciting project is gaining momentum in the eco-model region of Landshut: collection certification for orchards. The aim of this initiative is to promote organic farming while strengthening the connection between farmers, communities and schools. The possibility of converting orchards to organic standards not only increases regional added value, but also promotes ecological sustainability. Countless orchards in the Bavarian regions, as well as in the Eco model region Landshut, are ready to grow to new heights.
The project symbolically starts at the Neufahrn elementary school. The students can look forward to freshly squeezed organic apple juice that comes directly from the region. “We not only want to protect the environment, but also promote awareness of healthy local products,” emphasizes Eco Model Region Manager Veronika Stanglmayr. Mayor Peter Forstner and district councilor Renate Hanglberger also support the project, true to the motto: Things can get better together.
Advantages of collection certification
The collective certification also gives small businesses and private individuals access to the advantages of organic certification without having to dig deep into their pockets. This simple option for converting to the organic standard includes cultivation in accordance with the EU organic regulation, whereby chemical pesticides and mineral fertilizers must be avoided. Anyone who owns at least ten trees can register. The costs incurred are covered by the local fruit wholesale market, so that farmers don't have to spend a cent.
But that's not all: In addition to growing your own apples, the fruit wholesale market also offers options for completely recycling the apples. This ranges from a purchase at a price that is 25% above the current market value for conventional fruit to a juice account that is filled depending on the quantity delivered. This not only ensures economic viability, but also promotes biodiversity, which creates a sustainable future perspective for the region.
A call to participate
In this sense, private individuals, municipalities and associations can also take notice: They can order fruit trees free of charge to support regional cultivation. The prerequisite is that the applicants represent a community or an association. Anyone interested can contact Stanglmayr directly to clarify all details and options.
Similar projects can also be found in the Franconian Switzerland, where great emphasis is placed on promoting biodiversity and regional supply. The collection certification initiative launched there shows how the fruit wholesale market is also helping farmers there with uncomplicated offers and thus keeping organic cultivation highly popular. Organic farming also offers a sustainable perspective in an increasingly environmentally conscious society.
In summary: The Landshut eco-model region is serious about organic certification of orchards, and the project has the potential to not only bring economic benefits, but also to increase environmental awareness and promote regional identity. If you want to be part of this movement, now is the ideal opportunity!
