Kulmbach celebrates: Old Town Festival 2025 brings closures and diversions!

The Kulmbach Old Town Festival 2025 is just around the corner and will transform the historic old town into a festive music and culinary stage. From Friday, July 4th to Sunday, July 6th, the city center will be the center of the Bavarian party mood. During this time, numerous closures and obstructions are to be expected, which will apply to drivers and pedestrians from July 2nd in order to enable festival operations. Wiesentbote reports that the entire festival area will be severely affected from Thursday to Monday, July 7th.

A central point of the restrictions is the EKU square, which remains closed due to construction work for Beer Week 2025. Buchbindergasse will also no longer be accessible to traffic from Thursday, July 3rd at 7 a.m. However, residents and delivery traffic are allowed to use the alley until Friday morning. The most important closures and regulations for the holidays are listed below:

Important closures and diversions

  • Parkflächen in der Oberen Stadt: Ab Mittwoch, dem 2. Juli, 7 Uhr, gesperrt.

However, there is also good news for visitors. The Franconian day informed that the “KulmBus Spezial” runs until late at night on festival Fridays and Saturdays. On Friday the bus starts at 10.30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9.30 p.m. in Gasfabrikgässchen. Passengers can enjoy the last return trips to the districts until around 1 a.m. The tariffs are uncomplicated: just 1.60 euros per trip and no prior registration is required. Online registration is only required for the feeder trips on Friday.

All of these preparations are aimed at providing visitors with an unforgettable experience. Whether you enjoy local culinary delights or listen to the sounds of the music stages: the Kulmbach Old Town Festival promises to be a festive highlight in the summer. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, the organizers appeal to all visitors to observe local traffic regulations and prepare for diversions. So it's up to all of us to enjoy the festival to the fullest and at the same time be considerate of the circumstances.
