Kronach fights: New competence center for care in the crisis!
The Kronach district faces a major challenge: demographic change can be felt and the effects cannot be ignored. According to district of Kronach there is a market-friendly increase in the number of people in need of care. Current figures from the Bavarian State Office for Statistics show that with 77 out of 1,000 inhabitants in the Kronach district, more people are in need of care than in the Bavarian average of 47 and even in Upper Franconia with 61. The tendency that the need for nursing offers increases not only in the short term is obvious.
The trend also has a dark side: While the number of people in need of care increases, the proportion of caring relatives and professional nurses drops at the same time. Many older care employees retire while there is a lack of new specialists. According to Care pot Germany , additionally burdened by high demolition rates in nursing training. An attractive job profile looks different, and so the search for young people will be one of the central tasks of the future.
the need for a competence center
In view of this development, the district of Kronach launched the idea of a competence center care. This should act as a central advisory and coordination office for citizen inquiries and offer quick help if nursing needs suddenly arise. The concept also provides for a digital platform that makes access to information and services much easier. In particular, the change in family structures means that fewer resources are available for home care. This laid the foundation for increased demand for professional care places that are increasingly becoming more difficult and financially wearable. A central aspect of planning is to recognize the synergy potential and to ensure the capacitive provision.
In order to counteract impending undersupply, the district council wants to decide on the next steps for project development. The establishment of decentralized nursing assets that act as a personal contact person should also be promoted. As a result, the network for people in need of care could be made much more quality.
financing and further steps
An important key to realizing the competence center lies in the funding. Here, an application is promised as part of the "Good Care Fear" Directive of the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention. The decision on the funding is expected by March 2026, and after that the construction phase could begin with a planned opening of the new facility in mid -2026.
The challenges are enormous, but those responsible are optimistic. Thanks go to Jürgen Baumgärtner and Minister of State Judith Gerlach for her support. After all, in view of the increasing number of people in need of care, solutions must be found in advance in order to secure the quality of life of the people affected in the Kronach district.
The developments are firmly in view. The demographic change affects all of us, and as the statistics show, this not only draws individual fates with it, but also presents society as a whole. According to Destatis , over 5.69 million people in Germany are already in need of care, and the trend not only points up, but also affects the older generations. In the meantime, 87 % of the over 90-year-olds are already dependent on care. This is a clear wake -up call for all of us.
