The Kronach district faces a major challenge: demographic change can be felt and the effects cannot be ignored. Current figures from the Bavarian State Office for Statistics show that with 77 out of 1,000 inhabitants in the Kronach district, more people are in need of care than in the Bavarian average of 47 and even in Upper Franconia with 61. The trend also has a dark side: While the number of people in need of care increases, the proportion of caring relatives and professional nurses drops at the same time. Here, an application is promised as part of the "Good Care Fear" Directive of the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention. The decision on the funding is expected by March 2026, and after that the construction phase could begin with a planned opening of the new facility in mid -2026.
